गोडावण बचाने के लिए रोकेंगे खनन

अजमेर.राजस्थान के राज्य पक्षी गोडावण को बचाने के लिए तैयारी शुरू हो गई हैं। जिला प्रशासन अब सोकलिया क्षेत्र में खनन गतिविधियों पर रोक लगाने के लिए तैयारी कर रहा है। इसके लिए क्षेत्र की सिवायचक भूमि का अधिग्रहण किया जाना प्रस्तावित है। जैसलमेर के बाद अजमेर जिले में ही गोडावण की उपस्थिति मानी जाती है। जिले के सोकलिया क्षेत्र में यह शर्मीला पक्षी पाया जाता है। सोकलिया गोडावण क्षेत्र लगभग 15 गांवों में फैला हुआ है, लेकिन इन क्षेत्रों में वन भूमि नहीं होने से इसे गोडावण संरक्षित क्षेत्र का दर्जा नहीं दिया जा सकता। गोडावण के विलुप्ति के कगार पर पहुंचने की स्थिति को देखते हुए जिला प्रशासन इस मामले में गंभीरता दिखा रहा है।

खनन गतिविधियां बंद हो

सोकलिया क्षेत्र में जारी खनन गतिविधियों के चलते ही गोडावण घट रहे हैं। वन्य जीवों को बचाने में लगीं विभिन्न संस्थाओं ने समय-समय पर वन विभाग और जिला प्रशासन से क्षेत्र में जारी खनन गतिविधियों को बंद कराने का आग्रह किया है। वन विभाग ने कई बार क्षेत्र में संरक्षण के लिए प्रयास किए लेकिन सब निरर्थक ही साबित हुए।

बैंगलोर की टीम ने  लिया था जायजा

पिछले दिनों ही सोकलिया गोडावण क्षेत्र में बैंगलोर की एक वन्य जीव प्रेमी संस्था की टीम ने जायजा लिया। दल में अधिकतर महिला सदस्य थीं। जेनी फर्नाडीज की अगुवाई में दल आया था। यह दल यहां गोडावण पक्षी के आवास और भविष्य की सुरक्षा उपायों पर स्थानीय वनकर्मियों से चर्चा कर के गया है। विभागीय सूत्रों के मुताबिक दल ने भी गोडावण के संरक्षण के लिए खनन गतिविधियों पर रोकथाम की वकालत की है। अगस्त में भी दिल्ली की एक संस्था से जुड़े सदस्य यहां आकर अध्ययन करके गए हैं।

सिवायचक भूमि का अधिग्रहण : जिला प्रशासन अब यह तैयारी कर रहा है कि सोकलिया के 15 गांवों में स्थित सिवायचक भूमि को अधिग्रहण कर चरागाह क्षेत्र विकसित किया जाए। इसका सीधा फायदा यह बताया जा रहा है कि चरागाह घोषित हो जाने पर खनन कार्य बंद हो सकेंगे। सोकलिया गोडावण क्षेत्र में अवैध खनन बहुत होता है। जगह-जगह पिट खुदे पड़े हैं। खनन गतिविधियों का ही नतीजा है कि गोडावण पक्षी यहां निवास नहीं कर पा रहा है।

कई गांवों में नजर आ रहे हैं गोडावण : सोकलिया के फॉरेस्ट गार्ड राजेंद्र कुमार के मुताबिक इन दिनों खेतों में फसलें खड़ी हैं। जगह-जगह गोडावण नजर आ रहे हैं। सोकलिया, रामसर, भटियाणी, बावड़ी, कोटड़ी, शेरगढ़, लक्ष्मीपुरा, कल्याणीपुरा, केसरपुरा, सनोद, पिपरौली, हनूतिया, लोहरवाड़ा, रामपुरा और झड़वासा समेत विभिन्न गांवों में गोडावण नजर आए हैं।

चरगाह विकास करेंगे

'सोकलिया में सिवायचक भूमि को चरागाह भूमि में विकसित कराने का प्रस्ताव है। गोडावण क्षेत्र के 15 गांवों में जहां-जहां भी सिवायचक भूमि है, उस पर चारागाह विकसित कराने की योजना अमल में आने पर खनन गतिविधियों पर रोक लग सकेगी।'

It is for the first time in the past four decades that a GIB, also called godavan, has been poached during daytime. The forest department, taking a serious note of the incident, has started an investigationMeanwhile, the police have identified two vehicles used in poaching - a Tata 207 and a Bolero -- in which the hunters took away the dead birdThe GIB is facing extinction and its hunting is illegal. The poaching comes at a time when the government is formulating schemes to protect it. The government has sent one such scheme to the Centre for approvalSources pointed out that with the onset of winter, hunting of migratory birds begins at DNP but till now no action has been taken against any such elementsAccording to Khuhadi police station officer Kishore Singh, the two godavans were two kilometers away from the Sudasari area of the forest department. One vehicle that came from Khuhadi side spotted the godavans. They then called their friends through mobile phone. Later other poachers came in a Bolero and after parking their vehicle a little distance from the birds, fire at them.While one of the godavans died on the spot, the other managed to fly away. The poachers took the dead bird and left towards Khuhadi. Kishore Singh said that a shepherd, who witnessed the incident, later informed the forest department squad that reached the spot.Though the police tried to catch hold of the poachers by blocking Sangad, Jhinjhinyali, Sam and other areas, they managed to escape.Wildlife Board chairman Ranjeet Singh, describing the incident as "very serious" said that the DNP, especially Sudasari area, has only over 50 godavans. In the entire state there is less than 100 Godavans. "If the government fails to take stringent action, godavans will become extinct in the state," he said.Officials of DNP have sent the samples of blood, feather etc of godawan to a forest laboratory. A case has been registered against unidentified poachers under Section 9 of Wildlife Act.Principal chief conservator of forests, U K Sahay said that he has sought the complete report of poaching of godavan and it is a serious incident.

The GIB, the state bird of Rajasthan, was hunted down on the Link Road to the Sam sand dunes near Barna village on December 20 noon. The area is called Sudasari and forms a part of the Desert National park

 The hunters, who had killed a Great Indian Bustard (GIB) near here on last Thursday, had actually trained their guns on two birds. However, one managed to fly away.
